My Word For 2013

Boy, 2012 was quite a year for me.  We sold our home in January, moved into a rental home, bought a new home in November and are still painting and unpacking!  Whew!

In the midst of all of the painting (which can be very meditative, by the way) I have been thinking about what I would like the coming year to be.

It seems like I rush through every moment, day, week.  I rush so much that I do not take time out to enjoy the moment.  I am always thinking about what is next....not what I am currently doing.

So my word for 2013 is JOY.  I am going to focus enjoying being in the moment.

It has been a blast reading all of your blog posts this past year and I have enjoyed the comments you have left for me on my posts.  I am looking forward to sharing my new home with you in the coming year.

So here is to 2013.  May it bring you much joy.
Happy New Year!

  3. Hi busy lady - hoping this coming year will bring you and Kent so much JOY and other wonderful things! Also hope we get together again later in the year when hopefully I'll be here fixing up my own space - it needs a lot of TLC after being gone so much!!
Just got back last evening - busy unpacking, laundy etc, today - then packing again soon!

A very Happy New Year from us both.

  7. Now I thought you were going to choose "HOME"! "JOY" is a wonderful word; I have another blogging buddy choosing that word for the second year because she forgot it was her word for the first year. Ha! I love my whacky pals. Beautiful photo! If that's your view from "home" you've chosen well.

  10. I'll second that, Penny. "Joy" is one of my favorite words. I try to find joy in everything I do. Had to work at that yesterday when I was packing up all the Christmas decorations. It was a chore, but the joy is a fresh, clean house to begin the new year. ;-)
Look forward to following along with your adventures in the new house.
    Happy New Year........Sarah

  11. That's a perfect word for your new year! After a year filled with some really tough things - my word was hope (how appropriate!) - my word for next year is 'Delight'. I'll be sharing it soon. As you spend your New Year in joy, I'll be delighting in things all around me!

  16. Happy New Year Penny. I think your word suits you - even though you say you rush it seems to be that you pack your days with JOY.

I haven't chosen a word for the year but I just might do that.

    Happy New Year!

  22. I can so relate to your post today. We didn't move but I HAVE moved way too many times. I can feel the hard work and also the fun of redecorating your new home. Most of all I too want to relax more and seize each day with calm and yes...JOY.

I can't wait to see more of your home and I also agree...painting is very rewarding in many ways.
Happy 2013 and much JOY to you and yours.
    Love, Jeanne

I have to constantly make myself slow down, and then the battle is not feeling you shuld be doing something instead of relaxing! Lol. Your post just popped up on my google reader as unread, I don't know how I missed it before.
