House Whispering and Packing

I am spending the next few weeks packing.  Rather than pack all at once, I am spreading it out a little, taking my time.  I am marking the boxes with the contents and room that it will go in.  That way, when moving day comes, I will be able to tell the movers where to put each box.

While I am packing I am day dreaming about what the new house will look like with all of my old familiar pieces.

At our previous home, we had this lion fountain in the middle of our back yard.  Here is my previous backyard and fountain, below.

We loved it, but it stayed with the house when we sold it.  So, I have been looking around the internet and found some ideas for a new lion fountain at the new house.  This time, since the yard is much smaller, we are thinking about having a wall mounted fountain.  Here are some inspiration photos.  All of the photos are from Houzz.com

I can hear the trickle of the water...can you?

Okay, back to reality.  Packing....

I hope all everyone in the path of Sandy, stays safe and warm!

  1. Your old house was beautiful, and I'm sure your new one will be too. I will have to go back on some of your posts to see what has been happening. I will have a lot more time to do blogging now since my dad has passed away :(

  4. Packing...such joy. I'm sure that you could write a book about it, Penny!

Well now, a fountain is something that I've never even thought about so this was different. I like what you left behind and I like all the wall mounted ones. Whatever you decide, it'll be a perfect complement to your new home in size and scale.

    Enjoy the packing!

  5. Just the sight of packing boxes and paper takes me back - I like your idea of a wall mounted fountain and I'd vote for the one surrounded by ivy or the one mounted on lattice.

  6. I love the wall mounted fountains. They remind me of the hidden courtyards in New Orleans. Good luck with your packing. You sound like you have everything under control.

  9. Moving is always such a chore but you will finally be in your 'forever' home and can settle in and make it yours! I can't wait to see it! We're starting to think about our forever home but it's too soon to know what we will be doing and where we want to be. Too many things between here and there. In the meantime, I'm living vicariously through your home adventures! :D

  10. I like how organized you are, Penny. You move should be very smooth (hopefully). These are great inspiration pics, hubby has always wanted a fountain but the ones he chooses are way out of proportion in our small yard. I hope you find one that you like!

  14. Oh, dear...I, too am packing....getting ready for a move in the near future. I have boxes, marked, stacked and the stack is growing higher and higher. We will have several garage sales before we put the house on the market. Did you move furniture out before you showed your house to buyers? I haven't moved in 40 yrs and have forgotten how to do it. :(

  15. I'm glad you are taking your packing a little at a time Penny. I see you are using white paper. The white packing paper is sooo much better than using newspaper.

  16. I think that's the best way to do it, Penny. That's how I did our packing last year. It made it a lot easier to have the boxes in the rooms they were meant to go in and unpack each room. These are lovely fountains. I like them all. I had some statuary that I left at our house. I would have liked to bring them but they were just too much added weight and I'm sure they would have been damaged.

  19. We have a large lion fountain, as you used to, and I like the idea of a wall mounted lion. Sort of like Aslan on your patio.
