Summertime And The Living Is Easy

We had a tomato catastrophe the other day.  One of our tomato bushes got so big and heavy, that it pulled the tomato cage out of the ground and tomatoes flew everywhere!

Mr. Comforts staked the plant back up as best he could and we gathered the green and orange tomatoes up and set them on our outdoor table to ripen.

But we are not upset about it.  We are having a tomato explosion over here at the comforts of home!

I love, love, Love tomatoes, do you?

On another note, I am heading to Florida to spend a week helping my niece paint her kitchen cabinets.  I hope to get some good before and after pictures.  I will be back July 28.  See you then!

Welcome Home,
Penny

We had an explosion of cherry tomatoes this summer. Not meant to, should have been beef steaks but the tag on the plants were wrong! Oh well... Hubby is enjoying them just the same. :-))

Blessed niece!

Yes, I love tomatoes! We are finally able to purchase a real one at the farmer's market. Ahhh, heaven. Wow. That was some tomato rebellion. Apparently, they're not if favor of being tied to a stake.

Looks like fried green tomatoes are in order! I do love tomatoes that are vine ripened. I had just as soon not eat them if they are grocery store tomatoes.

I'm not a tomato person, but yours sure do look pretty. Wish I had picked up one of those chicken wire baskets at PB last year. I have the chargers and the basket, but this style looks like it's very useful.
Have fun in FL. I look forward to the photos.

I want a home grown tomato! Our cool summer has done nothing to help the tomato production in our garden. Want to trade for some zucchini? HAHAHA.

I just love the smell of a home grown tomato. They remind me of helping my grandfather in the garden when I was little!

I'm having a tomato explosion too! My four bushes have grown so tall and wide that they've grown through the fence separating them from the flower garden so now I have little tomatoes decorating the tops of the salvia! ::Jill

Penny, have a fine time in Florida!! My tomato plants are so tall too that I had to double and one of the plants triple stake them!

There is NOTHING better than a home-grown tomato. They are so sweet and have a flavor. Not, like the tomatoes in the market that taste like water.

There's nothing like a nice tomato sandwich in the summer.

Penny, I just got my Where Women Create magazine. I was thinking, you have that gorgeous studio and your work is so lovely. Why not submit something to them. I would love to see Lavender Studios in that magazine.

Have a great weekend, and Happy tomatoes

ohhh, I am envisioning a tomato sandwich, then maybe one with some bacon and lettuce and lots of mayo. then, a tomato pie, both ripe and green. Some salsa, some chutney, some soup come winter. Glad you are having such a bountiful harvest.

I love home-grown tomatoes!
In fact, we have a crop maturing right now. Your post just reminded me to solicit help from my husband. I need to net my bushes better. If I don't, the birds and deer will get them. It's a race. Have a great trip.
