Not me....
Here is my entry on the table.
Here is the First Place Winner...
Here is the Second Place winner...
As you can see, I don't think this was the birdhouse competition I should have entered. This was more of a rustic/arts and crafts type competition. If you enlarge the pictures by clicking on them, you can see some of the other birdhouses in the competition.
I wanted to thank all of you for your sweet compliments and encouragement. It meant a lot to me!
On a good note, this is the view from the hallway of the Grove Part Inn and Resort. Pretty isn't it?
Have a wonderful Sunday!!
Welcome Home,
Penny

Hi Penny, I still think yours is a winner :o) I could kinda see the appeal with the first prize but the second prize ones are seriously wierd!
I have to agree the scenery is gorgeous.
Have a great week :o)
Your birdhouse is a thing of beauty. It sounds like the judges were in a more rustic frame of mind. You are the winner in my book.
Hugs,
Penny
If I were a judge yours would have been the winner! It is, you know!

Sorry you did not win. Yours is much prettier. And your photo is pretty amazing, it's what spring looks like at my house too!

Am I allowed to say what I really think? Feel free to boot my comment to the curb. Yes, rustic is the word for the winners. I like the first place winner, though not as much as yours. The second place winner? Not so much, in fact, not even an itty bitty teeny tiny ittle bit. Yours shines, Penny. I hope that you gave out a lot of calling cards because I'm sure that viewers were very intrigued.
Welcome home Penny. If I had to have one of the bird houses in my home, it would be yours for sure. sandi
You are a winner in my book Penny!:-)
I agree, I'm disappointed that you didn't win. I agree, the judges were looking for a totally different genre. But you still have my vote, hands down! Your birdhouse is fabulous! ~ Sarah
PS
I stayed in Grove Park Inn many years ago. It is a beautiful spot.
Ha!! you live in Arden....I live in Fairview...
Don always says you can't win if you don't play so I'm glad you played. I bet you had fun competing anyway. Your birdhouse was lovely. I sure wonder what the second place ones were thinking...lol...
It seems to me they should have had different categories. Your birdhouse is lovely!
Penny, I think you should have won-I loved yours the best!! The view from the Grove Park Inn is gorgeous!
From the looks of the winners, yours should have been in some kind of a LOT PRETTIER competition, than theirs. Good grief!
Yours is beeeeeeeeeeeeeutiful. So there! "Auntie" sezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!
Gentle hugs,
.♥.
I say that you should have won. And, it is not only because I love you, but I do.♥
Your birdhouse is the most gorgeous of all - anywhere.
Interesting winner entries.... the carving on that first winner is most interesting.
But we still like yours!
Hmmm, I can't say I think the winners are beautiful. I see the craftmanship in the ceramic 2nd prize set and the carved one is well done and interesting, but if you lined them all up and told me I could take one I'd grab yours in a heartbeat. The view ifrom the inn is so beautiful!
I still think you should have won!!!
You should have been the winner...it's as simple as that.
XO,
Jane
Hmmm somehow I don't think some of those are going to end up outside as a birdhouse. To me a birdhouse--houses a bird/birds. This was an art show with no clearly defined categories in my opinion. If I can offer one more personal observation I would prefer to see the Lavender Hill expression of art from my kitchen window
any day of the week. It just looks happy! Lucky birds!
What the heck is that thing?!! Obviously, beauty is in the eye of the beholder!!
I admit, I am a biased reader of your blog, but your birdhouse is much better!
You're a winner in my book, Penny. Those are some very unique birdhouses, but I really love yours.
Hugs,
Donna
I still liked yours the best!!!!!
Well, I like yours better than the winners. Beautiful view.
Boo...yours is still the winner!!
Wow, I would have picked yours over the others in a heartbeat!
Brenda
Hmmm....for the very life of me I don't understand that one! Yours is by far the most beautiful!
I can appreciate the creativity that went into the winning pieces but if I had to choose one to own it would be yours.
The style the judges are looking for in picking a venue or competition for art work is important isn't it?
Darla
It's kind of like comparing apples and oranges. Your birdhouse is a thing of beauty and the other birdhouse is a thing of rustic intrigue. Two very different catagories.
There isn't a doubt in my mind that YOU had the most beatiful entry and YOU are the winner!!!
I think you were out of your element for that particular rustic style competition. I loved your beautiful birdhouse, Penny. You probably needed to be in a competition with a different venue. Gorgeous scenery in NC. We didn't see much while we were there, as we flew and then spent all our time indoors at the furniture market. One of these days, we will have to drive down and take more time to explore. Can't wait to see your kitchen when the countertop is all done. :-) Sue
I'd choose yours in a heartbeat over any of them!
:)

In my opinion, you should have won hands down.
