Folly

fol·ly [ f√≥llee ]
Architecture eccentric building: a building of eccentric or over elaborate design, usually built for decorative rather than practical purposes.

Synonyms: foolishness, madness, idiocy, silliness, craziness, recklessness, irrationality, foolhardiness, imprudence.

I saw this while out and about this past weekend.

Don't you think we all need a little "folly" in our lives?  When was the last time you did something "silly"? I am going to do something silly today.  How about you?
Welcome Home,
Penny

I don't think I hardly ever do anything silly. But I do love to play with the grands and act silly with them sometimes. They appreciate me more....lol....

I love this folly Penny! I first heard about follies while reading an Agatha Christie mystery. I don't remember which one, but I do remember folly.

I do at least one silly thing every day, intended or not!:-)

If these are folly sign me up! I have always loved these buildings made from old architectural salvage. So charming and wouldn't they make a sunny chicken house or a great place to start plants inthe spring?

Penny, I agree that we all need a little folly in our lives! What would life be without a little folly-I think pretty boring! Love that little greenhouse/garden shed-just wonderful! Have a great day!

Folly never seemed so charming! I can just imagine it filled to the brim with young seedlings and over-wintering plants.

The Great Dane has enough old windows leaning against the shed out back to make a couple of these.
I can't think of the last time I did something silly. It must be time........

If this is folly, let me live there! I love the little building made from old windows and findings. This summer I sat inside a big, wonderful greenhouse made of old windows - and I had tea with a blog friend nearby. It was wonderful. I want one of these in my back yard!

That is really cool! I saw a backyard cottage similar to that and it was all made or recycled materials.

I love it. I was at our habitat store today and scored some huge windows I mean some 6ft by 8ft windows. I told my hubby about the tinker house and that I need one- a tinker house, a folly house whatever- I need one.

I'm usually a silly person, but it's taken a back seat lately. Thanks for re-introducing it to me!
Time to lighten up and enjoy some folly!

Hi Penny, I missed your Friday photos as we were in Fl. I LOVE cows and your photos were great. I am not sure I could have guessed which was which but I would have enjoyed trying.

Now for folly, I am all for it. That building is so fun and interesting. I usually do something silly often. Like losing my car keys today. I know that is not the silly you mean though. HA! Lucky Bill had an extra set.

Hugs, Jeanne

Penny what a cool out building this little lovely folly. I would have it in my yard and plop a chaise and candle chandy inside and grab a good book!

Wouldn't that be a delightful place to hide out and dream? I always think of old English manor houses when I think of a Folly.

What a great little place to sneak away to, hide, dream, ponder and give a good think to things, Penny! Thanks for sharing this sight!

I tend to be silly without even trying. This is really beautiful! Might want to put one of those on Santa's list, Penny. Tried to visit here last night, but Blogger was being a beast.

That is the great thing abt having my boys! We are silly ll the time. Our fave thing to do during the holidays is to try and sing Feliz Navidad every time it comes on the radio. It drives The Hubster insane but sometimes even he joins in!:)

Hi Penny,

Oh my goodness- I love the follie - I thought you were going to tell us that you purchased it to use as a green house or charming little studio. It is fabulous and would be so much fun to restore -it would make a very cute chicken coupe for your wonderful French yard.
Blessings,
Erin

Yes, I'm so ready for some folly. That one has great potential, doesn't it?! So you did something silly, but you didn't tell us what. You know how curious I am...

Oh Penny! I do something totally "silly" every single day of my life. At least I think "Now, that was silly of me!" Usually it is my mouth that says silly stuff! My goal? Stop being silly and one day grow up! Truthfully, I am about to give up. I just don't think it's ever going to happen. :)
