Only Her Hair Dresser Knows For Sure

Well, and now all of you do too.... This is how I looked a few weeks ago.  Actually this is how I have looked for the past couple of years, because this picture was taken about 2 years ago.
Now, I have had thin hair for many years.  But I usually had it colored.  A few years ago, I decided to go natural.  I actually like the silver color.

But for the last year or so, I have been getting offered SENIOR CITIZEN discounts!  For people OVER 65!  I am only 56.  Now as much as I enjoyed the savings, I decided that I didn't want to look 10 years older than I am.  So....
So....there you have it.  No more silver.  I decided to post this, so all of my blog friends that are coming on October 16th for the blogger brunch, wouldn't think they came to the wrong house!

On to a couple other subjects.  Melina, from Tales From My Empty Nest. Came to visit last Friday.  She brought me a wonderful bag full of sweet gifts!

See the black toile bag?  That is called a Flora Doora.  To find out more about these great hanging planters visit Flora Doora.

Melinda and I had lunch and went shopping in a neighboring town, called Black Mountain.
Here we are in a wonderful store called, Maggie McKay.
The store also sold cute custom garden houses.  Don't you love that purple door?

Another wonderful thing happened this weekend.  Sarah from Hyacinths For The Soul had a giveaway a while back, and I won!  My package arrived on Saturday and it was filled with beautiful wrapped gifts.
French glasses, blue transferware plates, French cookies and candies and a sweet vintage tablecloth.  Thank you Sarah!

Welcome Home,
Penny

Love the new hair color and what great gifts you have received. It probably is good that you showed a recent pic.

Wow Penny, that's quite a change! Love your hair color both ways, but you do look younger (:

And all those wonderful gifts. You had a big week!

Shelia said...

Hi Penny! Oh, I agree with Susy, I love your hair both ways. If my hair was as pretty and silvery as yours, I might let it go natural. But I've got gray streaks here and there so I color it up too! You do look as cute as a button.
Glad you had fun with your friend and what lovely gifts!
Be a sweetie,
shelia ;)

You look fabulous either way with your hair, but I adore the natural. It is so beautiful and white. Love it. All of your gifts are just wonderful. You really did hit the jackpot. Fabulous. Hugs, Marty

A change is hair color is always fun. Yours looks fab my Dear!

I've always been blonde and have it highlighted whenever I feel like spending a small fortune because no one does it for cheap.

The purple door is a hoot. Every home should have at least one colorful door.

Hi Penny,
Wow, what a difference...Your new hair color is very pretty on you..but you are pretty no matter what color your hair is..Your natural color was so lovey. Why not make a change have fun with your hair. What did hubby say?.
I remember long ago my Mother who has been natural gray since I can remember, says she started going gray in her teens. Anyway she colored her hair and we all were meeting at a park for a family gathering, she was walking with my Dad and I remember saying to Gary who is that "Woman" with my Dad....silly me it was "Mom". I did not recognize her at all. Have the Boys seen you yet?.
Have fun with your new look!surprising your family..
Have a sweet day and big hugs to the new Penny!

My sister faces this issue with coloring her hair or remaining silver. At this point, she is also delighted to be given senior citizen discounts even at 13 years ahead of time. I think I'll go dye my hair silver!

Congrats on your wonderful win... I'm wondering if those plates will survive. ;>

Yes, I do love the purple door on that garden shed. People who aren't afraid of color impress me. I'm such a beige person.

I like your hair both ways too. I'm thinking of going red after my daughter's wedding, must be my mid-life thingy, lol. Love your gifts, how nice.

What a bunch of nice gifts..lucky you! I don't know Penny, you look smokin-hot with the silver hair and that black leather jacket! But..you look pretty now too :D

I did just the opposite. I stopped coloring and let my go white (well, mostly white). But then I am over 65--but just a little. Love all you gifties and prizes.

I love your hair both ways too. The darker hair makes you look so vibrant. You must have enjoyed receiving your gifts.

Your hair looks great Penny!

I kept my blonde hair with highlights until about 4 years ago when I decided to embrace the silver. Of course I was 63 years old at that time. I don't blame you a bit for changing your hair color.

Loved seeing your gifts. I picked up a pair of those S&P's at Target a couple weeks ago.

Wow! Two great looks. It's nice that you have two beautiful choices. I'd like to let mine go natural, but I'm sure I'd look like a calico cat. So I'll keep coloring it.
Enjoy your cute "new" look.

Rose Haven said...

Oh my...what a difference!! You're beautiful with either hair color...but this will take some getting used to! I've been able to ID your blog, by the beautiful silver haired lady that was posted on it! Now, I'll have to train my eye!! :-D

Hi Penny, I love your new hair colour! Even though your natural hair colour looked good on you too I think it's nice to have a change.. you must feel like a new woman! My hair started going grey when I got married.. so I blame hubby for my grey hair! I like colouring it and have tried a few different shades in my time.
I love the shop you went to and could have easily picked up that little pink cabinet in the foreground.. just gorgeous! Seeing that little outdoor garden room just gave me an idea for my daughter's old cubby house. Right now its packed with my stuff waiting to be made over but I think I'll be redoing the cubby itself first!
I love all the gifts you received Penny and they will look so good in your home.. have fun with your new look! take care, Maryann

Don't you look cute! I love the silver, too though! It's the perfect shade to be soft and natural! But getting a new hair cut and color makes you feel great! And looks like you are having tons of fun! Can't wait to see you....soon! ♥

Penny, Your new look is wonderful and it suits you perfectly! Good for you.

Growing up we vacationed in the area where you were shopping and for years the warning was "beware the Black Mountain boys." Apparently back then there were some that were ridge-runners or dare devils to beware.

Too funny.

Penny, I'm in the silver camp, but that's because I've been silver/gray for many years. Your color is attractive either way you go though. You are a beautiful woman. I was a blonde so I don't mind the silver/gray look. I used to pay good money to have my hair highlighted to get this look. LOL Since my 40s, it all natural.
Glad the gifts arrived without any breakage. Hope you enjoy them. ~ Sarah

Your new hair color looks great Penny! Sometimes I get tired of coloring my hair but then I know I'd get the same reaction you were getting so I keep doing it.

It looks like you amd Melinds had a fun day!

Your hair looks so pretty. 56 your still a babe!

I am turning 62 in December and have been coloring my hair since I was seventeen. I finally decided to let it grow out, I am now salt and pepper.

You want to crack up, when I was seventeen I bought a box of highlights called Midnight Lights from the store. I thought it would turn my hair a lovely shade of ash blonde. Yikes, it turned it orange. My mom sent me to the professional salon and I have been coloring my hair ever since. When I finally let it grow out recently...guess what, it's the color I wanted when I was seventeen. Who knew?

P.S. for the amount of money I have spent all these decades coloring my hair I could have bought a salon!

I can tell by the smile on your face that you love your new colour - and it does make you look as young as your are. It's good to know, though, that you'll be gorgeous when you decide to revert to your natural (and stunning) white!
