Sunshine, Rain and Sweet Endings

Yesterday Mr. Comforts of Home drove about 45 minutes over the mountain to Lake Lure, NC. Lake Lure was where the movie, Dirty Dancing was filmed.

(view from Penny's dock)
My blogging friend Penny and her husband live on the lake and invited us over for a boat ride and dinner.
Me on the left and the other Penny on the right, standing on their dock next to their boat house)

The sun was shining when we started the boat ride.  Penny and her husband treated us to some wine and appetizers as we toured the lake.

(me and Mr. Comforts of Home)

Above is Mr. Lake Lure Cottage Kitchen.  Look in the distance.  Do you see the "cloud" dropping into the mountains?  That is a rain storm that descended rapidly.

We were almost to the boat house and it opened up and started pouring.

The above picture was taken after we had docked in the boathouse.  See the huge drops of rain on the lake?

We got a little wet, but after we dried off, Daisy, Penny's dog greeted us.

Penny's lake house is just beautiful!  It has beautiful stone floors in the kitchen.  Look at that wonderful French black cabinet with the chicken wire front!

Dinner was delicious.  Penny made a sweet potato salad, coleslaw, squash casserole (recipe here) and Mr. Lake Lure Cottage Kitchen grilled pork tenderloin.

And for dessert.....the "sweet ending" part of this post, a wonderful coffee ice cream, dark chocolate crumb crust dessert with toasted almonds.

We had a wonderful time!  Thank you Penny and Mr. Lake Lure Cottage Kitchen!

If you want some wonderful recipes, please visit Penny at her blog....she would love to see you!
Welcome Home,
Penny

The beauty of this state constantly amazes me. It has been several years since we have been to Lake Lure, but I remember just how lovely it is.

Was that film supposed to be set in New Hampshire or am I dreaming? Anyway, that lake is a perfectly beautiful one. It has a lot of visual interest beyond just the water and the horizon. Getting wet just adds to the memories. What a wonderful evening!

Hi Penny,

Oh my goodness - Lake Lure - what a beatiful spot and lovely home to visit. Is that the same Lake Lure that is in Georgia? It looks very familiar to me since I went to school for a while in Georgia and spent lots of time sailing on Lake Lure.
I love the photo of you gardening - adorable - looks like your kitchen garden is really coming along.
Have a lovely week.
Hugs and Blessings,
Erin

What a lovely visit you had. The rain on the lake just added to it! And your dinner looks like it was delicious.
I love that you're working so hard on the gardening, I can relate. My hubby looks just like that when he comes in from a rough day outside. As for me, I make up the project list and direct him, it's exhausting...:) !!
Have a wonderful week.
