Inspiration

Sometimes I like to go antiquing just for inspiration.  I go without plans of purchasing anything.  It opens my eyes to new possibilities in my own decorating.

This weekend I had a couple of hours free so I headed to the Screen Door.
I love the green of that old metal bench.

Great old huge birdhouse.

Custom made gate.

Great old wash stand that would be wonderful for an outdoor potting table.

This was in a booth called My Paris Apartment....

This would look great as a terrarium.  Or filled with old tattered vintage books.

Something in the finish on the top of this table just spoke to me.  I am not sure why...but maybe down the road I might use this technique.  Who knows.

How do you get inspired?
Welcome Home,
Penny

Penny, I believe that is the shop I love to go to in Asheville. What great stuff they always have there. I get inspired by just going and looking around, too.

What a great place to find inspiration. I wish we had something like that here. Next week is the Great Oak Bay Garage Sale, where a whole village sets up, so I'll be there looking for inspiration!

Going out for a big dose of inspiration is just what we all need at times. This place seems to be filled with wonder.

It has been another busy weekend, and it is back to work for me tomorrow.

I do that a lot myself. Just head to the antique mall and stroll to my heart's content. Always come home with new ideas!

Penny, go back and get that green bench. You could paint it and put it on your porch. :)

I love to scout stores too. They have skills in styling the items. I love to see how they layer things.

At last I'm stopping by and where do I find you, having a great time at my favorite place in Asheville of course! Loved our visit together there - definitely want to do it again, perhaps will have to be in the Fall as Summer is just about booked up!

Penny dear, thanks for your comments on the posts I've already done on the safari. I just can't begin to tell you how absolutely fabulous it was - never had such a marvelous time in my life! I hope so much to go back, perhaps in a couple of years, but I need to win the lottery so must start buying tickets I guess!

I have loads more to show, the pics I got were awesome even without a lot of fancy cameras and lenses such as hauled around by many - each minute something wonderful seemed to appear in the viewfinder so taking over 2000 photos was easy!

Hope all is well with you both - bet you're busy gardening. There was rain here almost every day I was gone and I hardly recognized my garden, everything had grown by leaps and bounds!

Love Mary

Oh, Thank you for the tour- I too, love that green bench in the first picture--I have a pair of chairs that match it! (Mine are black), but they might like a fresh green makeover. Hmmm...
What a fun trek through the Screen Door!
Thanks for stopping by my home today, too!
I love new faces and friends!
I am going to read your previous post, now, as it was talking about silverware and steel stamping!
Blessings to you as you make your home!

Inspiration comes from many places....lately though from wonderful blogs such as yours! I REALLY love the piece that you pictured with torn vintage books.

Blessings!

Penny, it is a good thing I don't live near that store (love the name by the way!) because I would have lots and lots of inspiration and no money-LOL!

Hi Penny, I too am inspired by antiques and garden things like decorators use. I am in my element when I shop in these places. I could spend hours just wondering around. While I was with my sister antique shopping, I found a picnic basket with all the utensils inside including wine glasses for four. I paid $15.00. It wasn't old and in fact it looked unused. I will post it soon.

Now I am going to your garden post. I am making up for lost time today. Which really means I will let the day get away from me if I am not careful. Blogging does that to one!!!

Hugs, Jeanne
